African Bush CampsKanga Bush Camp has six tents set in the heart of Mana Pools National Park. The main area of the camp is on decking overlooking the pan. A relaxing lounge area under the shade of large trees overlooks the splash pool and pan. There is the choice of taking game drives in open-topped four-wheel drive vehicles or walking with professional guides. The opportunity to leave one's vehicle and track game on foot is an experience rare in the national parks of Africa and in Mana Pools in particular this provides the visitor with the chance to track game in safety with an experienced professional guide. Other activities include night drives as well as canoeing which is organised on request. Game abounds on the flood plains and in the Mopane woodlands of Mana Pools. Kanga Pan particularly attracts great game in big concentrations as it is the only water found in the floodplain above the river. The predators, including lion, wild dog and leopard are often sighted and large concentrations of buffalo can be found in the Mopane woodland and open plains studded with Ilala Palms. Kudu, zebra, impala and waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains. Elephant take advantage of the plentiful "albida" trees in the area. Bird watching is also a great attraction of the area. African Bush Camps also runs Safari Logistics, a small-aircraft air taxi service linking hotels, lodges, camps and safaris in Victoria Falls, Hwange, Matusadona, Kariba and Mana Pools. African Fisherman MagazineThe African Fisherman magazine is published six times as year by Mag-Set Publications (Pvt) Ltd. and offers a "shop window" to adventure angling in Southern Africa. Editorial content is aimed at the average fisherman and is structured very much on a "How To" basis. Many articles are written by anglers who are fishermen first, journalists second. This provides a varied and interesting content to the magazine which, according to our readership, sets us apart from other publications, and is the key to our success. Contributions are from countries all over Africa, and cover world markets, local and international tournaments, specialised techniques and new theories. Specialised features on fishing destinations include general information on fishing and boating facilities, venues, accommodation etc. for those looking for something different or unique. Our readership includes angling enthusiasts of all ages, races, sexes and walks of life from the Southern African region and in more than 20 countries around the world. We are committed to the preservation of the environment and its angling resources. We support junior angling and a policy of selective harvest of all species, catch and release of certain species, and the fostering of goodwill among all beneficiaries of these resources. The African Fisherman is predominantly focused on inland fresh water fishing. However, as our regional readership increases, editorial covering saltwater and coastal destinations (Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and the East Coast) is included on a regular basis. Fish species are similar throughout the Southern Africa region, and much of the content is applicable to anglers anywhere in Africa. RIFA Conservation Education CampRifa Camp was established and has been managed for 21 years by the Zimbabwe Hunters' Association. These citizen hunters wanted to expose schools to the wonders of a wilderness area they hunted in and became attached to. The camp and its programme is open to all Zimbabweans. Priority is given to school groups who have programmes tailor-made to their needs. The schedule also includes core topics such as study management of big game and the hunting of one impala per camp for anatomy studies, food for the school and scraps for the vulture feast. The course topics and backing resource materials have been developed by Mrs. L. Maasdorp, Education Co-ordinator. The product offered attracts schools to come year after year. In this big game safari area an armed escort consisting of a member of the Zimbabwe Hunters' Association, the Education Officer and the Parks Ranger protect the pupils on walks. The week's camp is designed for 30 pupils, three to four teachers, a cook and driver. More under-privileged schools need financial support for attending a camp. Can anyone help here?
