Andrew Smith Safaris

Mana Pools, Matusadona, Mongwe, Victoria Falls

The focus of Andrew Smith Safaris is adventure and sharing wild experiences with guests. Andrew and Clea work as a team and are passionate about wild, breath-taking moments that will never be forgotten.

All their safaris are designed according to the guests' requests and Andrew`s knowledge of the African bush.

Andrew is a qualified Professional Guide and leads safaris on canoes and in vehicles but prefers to get closer to nature on foot.

Although the operation is based in Zimbabwe and Andrew has spent most of his time on the Zambezi River, he is always excited about a new adventure and loves visiting other countries and places in Africa.  He loves exploring Africa’s wilderness and has built a strong foundational knowledge in Environmental Ethics, Flora and Fauna, tracking of big game on foot and even some mechanics for the moments when things go wrong in camp.

Although Andrew has many interests, his specialities are photography, birds and tracking lions on foot. His enthusiasm becomes addictive when he is out on activities with his guests, experiencing all of the big and small wonders of the wilderness.

His special passion is sharing his safari knowledge and enthusiasm with youngsters, and he has recently become involved in leading Kids Camps designed to kindle a love of the bush and a passion for conserving wildlife in Africa's future generations.

The bush experience is this company's priority but Andrew Smith safaris works with a selection of operators who provide services that will make sure every safari runs smoothly and guests receive the best experiences possible.

While Andrew is in the bush, Clea is in the office organising all the logistics and accommodation according to visitors' requests.

With the privilege of numerous “bush trips” in Zim and neighbouring countries over the last 60 years our family has developed clear ideas as to how we like our safaris to be arranged and guided: we avoid packaged tours, prefer walking in areas where it is unlikely we will come across other humans and never want to spoil an animal's day (or ours) by getting too close. Camp must be comfy, shady, safe, efficient but in no way Larny. After more than 10 safaris where Andrew Smith Safaris has arranged every detail with Andy himself guiding us and being in camp we know that in them we have been lucky enough to find a team that suits us perfectly. The trips are perfectly tailored to our eccentricities, inevitable setbacks promptly and competently dealt with: we have had outstanding game experiences primarily as a result of Andy's instinctive bush craft. He and Clea are a joy to be with.

Andrew Smith (Andy) ticks all the boxes of the requirements of an excellent safari guide. His knowledge of the environment and his bush skills, combined with his warm and inviting personality provide the perfect set of conditions for a rewarding and enjoyable bush experience. His respect for the environment and the safety of both the animals and his clients make you feel comfortable and able to fully enjoy the experience of being in the bush. Mana Pools is one of the greatest natural environments in Africa and your experience there is greatly enhanced when accompanied by a man like Andy. A great guide and a great guy in a magical place…it doesn`t get better!
