Sitting atop a hill commanding magnificent Lake Kariba vistas, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is the ultimate "rest and relaxation" retreat. With its African-safari air of indulgence. The lodge has a total of 10 rooms, all with views over the lake. All rooms are premium rooms with balconies and uninhibited views over Lake Kariba. Facilities include a stunning infinity pool, a lake-facing spa and an al-fresco dining deck
The Bumi area is a thrilling location for scenic and wildlife photography. The lodge stretches out towards the lake, where elephant and buffalo graze on the shoreline below with zebra, waterbuck and impala. In Matusadona National Park nearby, one might spot black rhino, shy leopard or lion on the prowl as well as hundreds of species of birds.
Activities on offer include game-viewing, sunset cruises, sailing and the chance to challenge the lake's fierce fighting tigerfish. The lodge has a spa offering hot stone massages, a sauna, a private plunge pool and health bar - all with strolling elephants and soaring fish eagles in your view! Cultural encounters can be arranged in and neighbouring villages for insight into the rich, ancient culture of the Tonga people.
The lodge is accessible via air charter into the Bumi Hills airstrip or by Bumi's 18-seater transfer boat from Kariba (journey approx 1.5 hours).

I went with my family from Germany for one week right to BUMI Hills to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was perfect. Accommodation was perfect (overview to Lake Kariba), the meals very fine, dinner at the lakeshore, wine of the best, the staff very very friendly and game viewing the best, I had in Africa (I`ve been to Africa several times before). Where else can you watch elephants while lying in the pool? It is really one of the most beautiful places in the world. We will come back.

We stayed at Bumi Hills for 3 Nights. The location is fantastic we had a room overlooking the Bumi Plains and Lake, with elephants and buffalo grazing daily. The game drives along the shoreline were great, it was a photographer's dream as the colours are so good. Our Guide Maxwell, was great. Extremely friendly and informative and very patient! The sunset cruises are a MUST. We had a leisurely sunset cruise and also 2 on a speedboat, where you can go further and cruise into the sidings where you see numerous birds nesting. The African Sunsets were the best ever. The management and staff could not do enough for you, and on one evening we were treated to a dinner in the bush, it was a really pleasant ending to a great sunset cruise. You can do as much or as little as you want. The pool is a dream in the heat of the afternoon and a good way to chill out. There is a spa, which we didn't make use of due to not enough time - this was our fault as our prime reason to visit was for wildlife and sunsets. If you get the chance to stay here - you must!!!! You will NOT be disappointed. When we return to Zimbabwe (and we will), we will definitely make sure this is on our itinerary This is a 5** rating, and we have been on a lot of safaris - this rates near the top for both accommodation, staff, views, game drives and views. Thanks to all for a fantastic stay

I was part of a tour group visiting Zimbabwe for the Sanganai/Hlanganani 2016 World Tourism Expo, and we arrived Kariba in the evening of June 8. The next day we flew to Bumi Hills. The flight was nice and just flying over Lake Kariba was great. We were received by waiting jeeps once we touched down and taken to the site. It's a very nice place to be. I love the general ambience of Bumi Hills Safari Lodge & Spa. I loved the view from the pool area - the first place I noticed once we arrived.
Later that afternoon we had two groups, one going for a game drive while the other went for a sunset cruise on Lake Kariba. I was with the sunset cruise team and it was really a thrill. Afterwards, we got back to the shore and joined the game drive group at a bonfire, before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Great place to be, the food was pretty good. The ambience was special... The internet though was a little bit slow - I guess that can easily be sorted out quickly.
Hi Dvid Omoniy. Thank you for your kind words about Bumi Hills. There is no better way to enjoy Kariba than on a sunset cruise, the vistas are breathtaking. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again soon. Take care and warmest regards, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

Bumi is a dream holiday destination. To wake up in the morning and look at the lake, and usually game, is just magic.

A stay at Bumi Hills is unforgettable, mainly because of the incredible WOW factor of its hill-top location and beautiful infinity pool with a panoramic view out over the vast inland-sea of Lake Kariba. Enough to take the breath away on first entering the lodge! Try and get one of the front rooms with a verandah deck perched precariously over the cliff and looking straight down into the view. This is really more of a boutique hotel rather than a safari lodge, but its location in a wildlife area allows you a feel of being in the bush. It's the most romantic wedding and honeymoon venue I can think of - luxury with a taste of the wild.
