Chewore Lodge and Campsite is situated in a beautiful woodland setting at the confluence of the Chewore and Zambezi Rivers.  This is a prime fishing and wildlife location within the Chewore Safari Area, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with Mana Pools National Park and the neighbouring Sapi Safari Area.   

The Campsite
There are 10 campsites which cater for up to 4 people each.  Campers are limited to bringing one boat per site. Each campsite has its own shower and toilet with an efficient wood-fired boiler for a hot shower in the cooler months. Each site has a braai/kitchen area with a 230-liter "Minus 40" deep freeze and plug point. During the night there are lights over the kitchen area and in the toilet / shower.  These are run by an inverter, so there is complete silence at night. Fuel, ice and firewood can be purchased on site. There is a communal swimming pool for all campsites.

The Lodge
This is an all-inclusive fishing camp for up to 8 guests that caters for your every need. The lodge comprises four double/twin chalets all with en-suite bathrooms, a central lounge, bar, swimming pool and dining area. There are two large, luxury, pontoon fishing boats fully equipped with fishing tackle and experienced drivers to take you out on the river for game viewing, fishing or a sundowner cruise. Game viewing and photographic opportunities are abundant in the area.

Dzimbabwe Lodge offers fully-catered and/or self-catering accommodation in Kariba town in a relatively tranquil area with great views overlooking the lake.


The Zambian border is 10 minutes away.  Mana Pools is approx 4 hours away depending on road conditions and the Kariba Ferry to Mlibizi is also ten minutes away. 

The lodge currently offers a total of 10 rooms, with 6 new rooms under construction. 

The Main Lodge consists of 6 double or twin rooms with comfortable beds, 2 generally equipped kitchens, 4 dining areas and 2 spacious lounges with DSTV. 

The adjacent Cottage has 4 double or twin rooms with comfortable beds, a kitchen, lounge and a dining area. 

Dzimbabwe Lodge is very convenient for groups or families who can reserve the whole main lodge or cottage in order to have privacy. Wi-fi, Laundry Service, Secure parking, Room Service and Air- Conditioning are also available.

A resident family of hippos can be seen from the rooms or balconies from time to time.

THE LODGE:
Quietly nestled behind indigenous trees on the banks of the mighty Zambezi river, Halsted Safari lodge is the epitome of elegant bush style living, coupled with an unparalled setting and truly luxury finishes.

Four comfortable chalets, each with stylish en-suite bathrooms and private outside seating areas each face over the river. Facilities include hot & cold running water, 12-220v power points, crisp white linen and your laundry done daily. With two ¾ beds in each chalet, the camp caters for a total of eight guests at any one time. The perfect exclusive getaway.
Our central gathering point not only boasts a large lounge and entertainment deck, but also an enclosed family style dining area. During the heat of the day you may choose to enjoy cooling off in our pool overlooking the river. The lodge is equipped to run on solar, and is the first lodge in the area to be registered as eco-friendly with EMA ( Enviromental Management Agency).

We have a full compliment of well-trained staff. Our safari bush cooks are available to prepare, breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as snacks for any excursions. Internet Facilities are available at the lodge.

ACTIVITIES:
At Halsted Safaris we pride ourselves in being an upmarket fishing destination, targeting the aggressive tiger fish,
and a wide variety of other species, ( bream, barbel, cornish jack, squeakers).We are well prepared with equipment and vehicles, having three 15ft Fibrecraft Osprey boats each with 60Hp four stroke motors, equipped with all necessary fishing appliances. There is an abundance of wildlife along the banks of the Zambezi which can be viewed by boat. Dining in the wild, boat cruises, fishing, and game viewing, by boat, are activities on offer at Halsted Safaris.

LOCATION:
The camp is approximately 20 km downstream from Chirundu, situated in Mongwe. Mongwe is based in National parks Nyakasanga area, past Mana Pools security road. The access road for Mongwe is on the right hand side of the Main Harare- Chirundu road a few kilometers before reaching Chirundu. GPS co-ordinates are as follows, S15`56. 524`. E 028`59.556`. 

Air transfers can be arranged through Halsted's Aviation Corporation (HAC)Chirundu airstip is approximately 14kms away from camp. We do offer a transfer service to and from the airstrip.

Hornbill Lodge is a small, intimate lodge situated on Mica Point in Kariba.

The lodge offers comfortable accommodation for up to ten people in A-frame thatch chalet-bedrooms (one double, two twin and one new four-bed family room) - each with ensuite facilities.  A separate satellite thatch bar, lounge and dining area overlooks a lovely plunge pool and offers a panoramic view of Lake Kariba.  Relax in the shade of indigenous trees in the beautiful, landscaped garden.

Jecha Point specializes in offering professional guiding to fly fishing enthusiasts focused on the mighty tiger fish and other exciting species.  We also also cater for conventional fisherman. 

We also offer photographic excursions (day trips) to Mana Pools, birding safaris, game walks, game viewing from an elevated platform and photographic boat cruises.

Our facilities are ideal as a quaint venue for small conferences and weddings and we offer personalised wedding planning and catering.

Guests visiting Jecha can expect to see wild elephants frequenting the camp on a daily basis, especially when the Acacia and Torchwood trees are in fruit.   The lodge is far enough away from Chirundu to have plenty of other game animals visiting the camp surrounds during the day and at night.  These can all be viewed safely from our elevated platform, which can seat up to 12 guests.

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority (ZimParks) is responsible for conserving Zimbabwe's wildlife resources, in National Parks, Protected Areas and on other state-owned land.

ZimParks has basic self-catering tourism lodges/cottages and campsite facilities for visitors in its properties throughout Zimbabwe.  All of these are situated in prime scenic and wildlife areas.  In the Victoria Falls, Kariba and Zambezi area facilities are as follows:

ZAMBEZI SANDS  is a brand new 16-bed tented camp situated on the banks of the Zambezi river, within the western part of the Zambezi National Park,  upstream from Victoria Falls.

Eight double or twin luxury tents have been built into the bush on raised wooden platforms at the water’s edge.    Each has its own private splash pool .  A four-bed family suite is being constructed and will be ready later in the year.  

The centrally-located main camp consists of a dining room, lounge and bar, with a shaded outdoor deck for alfresco dining experiences looking out over the river.

Zambezi Sands offers a wonderful combination of wildlife and river-based activities, whilst being conveniently close to the attractions of Victoria Falls itself.  On offer are game drives, game walks, canoeing and fishing, as well as tours of the Victoria Falls, shopping trips, a sunset cruise among the islands and a village visit and school tour.  Other Victoria Falls activities can be arranged on request.

Transfers from Victoria Falls are by vehicle (1.5 hours along the Zambezi River, or 45 mins through the forest).

Assisting with drilling wells for clean water supplies
