At Chewore, we invite you to step into ‘A piece of Heaven’ untouched by man.  You are given the unique experience of exploring the African wilderness in comfort and at your leisure.

What started as one mans’ passion for the bush and for fishing has now transformed into offering you and your guests the ultimate exclusive wild experience. A family-run Lodge located on the banks of the mighty Zambezi and at the confluence of the Chewore River, Chewore Lodge welcomes you.

Chewore Campsite  is one of the very few places in the world where you can step into unique wilderness, be under the stars of Africa and in between the shades of the majestic Albida forest. Commonly referred to as ‘ Camping en Suite ‘ by our regulars, it offers comforts not normally associated with camping.

The entire campsite is deliberately limited to 40 people to retain the tranquility and isolation of the bush that you have come here for. There are ten sites, 4 people (of any age) 1 boat and 1 helper permitted per site. Pitch your tents and make Chewore your home for the days you are with us.

Alternatively you can save yourself a lot of bother by hiring a site with our pre-equipped self-catering safari tents - 2 tents per site with 2 beds in each.

Every site is situated on the banks of the Zambezi looking out over the river.  Behind the camp is a floodplain that often showcases elephants, waterbuck, eland, baboons and warthog.

Each camping site has its own flushing loo, a fire-lighted hot/cold shower with incredible water pressure, (simple pleasures after a day in the African bush), minus 40 deep freezer, 4-seater table with benches, a braai area, and lights over the food prep area. Electrical power is provided.

Ice ,wood and wifi are for sale at the campsite.  There is also a swimming pool.

As we invite you to make Chewore your home, we invite the animals too. For this reason, we do not have fences or boundaries that keep the animals out and so we ask you to be cautious while close to Nature.

This was our fourth visit to Chewore Lodge. A great welcome from the caring staff is the beginning of a wonderful and relaxing kaleidoscope of an experience. Every need is attended to as you drift through each day as the Zambezi and the wilds of Africa take you through the wonderful vistas, game sightings, sunsets and great fishing experiences, accompanied by delicious meals and relaxing sundowners.

We were spoilt beyond our wildest dreams from the time we arrived to the time we left. The staff and service was wonderful. We were spoilt with abundant wildlife and even had an elephant visit us every night not to mention the noisy hippo. The fishing was excellent, no shortage of tiger to catch and the sun-downers on the way home each evening were the icing on the cake. As visitors from NZ we were blown away and feel very privileged to have seen a 'gem' in Africa. We just love that Zambezi River with all its wildlife and amazing scenery.

Reviews will only be positive and attract more visitors! As a frequent visitor I would like this paradise to be kept secret. I am glad the road in is long and rough as it might put some off. It is truly one of the best destinations in Zimbabwe. Fuel, Ice, Freezer, and simple, clean ablutions on each campsite. Rocky and his staff are outstanding. I like the rule of only 4 people and 1 boat per campsite. The catch and release rule for Tiger fish is great. In fact I like everything about this spot.
