Imbabala Lodge is situated on a riverine fringe of the mighty Zambezi River where Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia converge.

Located 80 kilometers west of Victoria Falls, access is by transfer from Victoria Falls, Livingstone or Kasane.

Imbabala offers the chance to unwind but also some of the most amazing game viewing and bird watching in the region, in the seclusion of a private National Parks concession. The 5,000 acre concession has 14 kilometers of private Zambezi river frontage and borders the Chobe Forest Reserve, which is renowned for its massive Elephant population.

Imbabala Lodge offers exclusive accommodation for only 20 guests in 9 individual thatch lodges with en-suite facilities. Each lodge is uniquely decorated and beautifully positioned with spacious verandas opening onto sweeping views of the Zambezi River. Imbabala has one family lodge, (Sleeps 4), with a fixed double bed in the front, and 2 twin beds in the back.  All the other lodges have twin beds that can be made into king size beds.

Experienced guides are on hand for all activities. These centre around tracking game on morning, afternoon and night game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles on the Imbabala Private Concession Area.
Exploring the Zambezi River by boat affords guests an exclusive river experience.
Bird-watching is exceptional, as birdlife is prolific and varied, ranging from water birds to shy forest dwellers.
Walking Safaris and fishing excursions for the renowned Tiger Fish, are available by prior arrangement.
For guests spending a longer time with us at Imbabala, day trips to Victoria Falls and the Chobe National Park are available; additional charges are applicable for all non-scheduled activities.
For those just wanting to stay at the lodge and chill, a new spa provides perfect relaxation.

Imbabala Lodge is one of several luxury lodges managed by Wild Horizons who also provide a complete range of activities, tours and transfers as well as The Lookout Café in Victoria Falls.

This is an incredible place. So special. Richard was our guide, and he was so knowledgeable, fun, kind, attentive. We saw so many animals from many different perspectives, at different times of the day, in different environments. It was amazing! We've been on safari before and the game drives here were infinitely better. Richard prepared a special breakfast for me and my husband on the Zambezi one morning and it was really a special experience. The food was delicious, the cookies were an appreciated treat at tea time, + the wine was nice too! Worth noting (though I wouldn't let these things stop you from visiting): wifi is very bad and the rooms are VERY buggy - bugs are a bit bigger than I was expecting, as well! Regardless, an incredible place as long as the bugs don't freak you out.

My Mom, Sister and I had an amazing time. Sarah and Jon are amazing hosts and its the little details that make the place so special. They are both always attentive to all guests needs, watching and looking to see what you may like or need before you even know it. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They have created a special place.

I would definitely recommend Imbabala to anyone looking to go on safari. Our whole experience was amazing, the game was prolific and our surroundings were beautiful. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Jon and Sarah made us feel at home and no request was too big or too small. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be going back again!

Upon arrival we were met by friendly and efficient staff who catered to our every need. Game drives, river cruises, Chobe National Park visit and Victoria Falls tour were all conducted by knowledgeable and witty staff who made each experience beyond enjoyable. The food was exceptional and plentiful as were the drinks and conversation. I would highly recommend Imbabala for older families and couples who want a personal and relaxed experience.

We stayed at Imbabala for 3 nights and could not have been happier with the experience. All of the staff, especially the camp manager at the time, Sue, were incredibly hospitable and friendly, and the food was fantastic. We really enjoyed the homey nature here, eating meals at the same table as other guests and being able to walk right into the bar area (if none of the staff was manning it) to help yourself to drinks. The rooms are very comfortable and all have a beautiful view of the river. The grounds are gorgeous, with huge trees providing shade and keeping it cool even during the heat of the day. Given that we were there during green season, we had low expectations of the game viewing, but we were very pleasantly surprised with the variety of wildlife we saw (lots of giraffes, buffalo, hippos, elephants, etc.). The drives and cruises were fantastic, especially since you don't run into other trucks or boats (unless you see others from Imbabala) because it is on a private concession. Our guide Jefferson was absolutely incredible. His knowledge and passion for the wildlife really made the drives and cruises special experiences. Another key aspect of this place is its proximity to the Botswana border, which makes a day trip to Chobe (highly recommended) much easier than coming from other places in Vic Falls… All in all, just a beautiful property with access to excellent game viewing and a very friendly and professional staff. You wont be disappointed!

Our stay at Imbabala was very personal. It was the connection with the manager and our guide that made our stay more intimate. We were part of the experience as opposed to staying at a hotel with day trips. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we felt we received the safari treatment that one reads about in books. The mosquito netted private chalets. The chef coming out and introducing the dinner menu. The discussions at dinner with Andrew and our guide, Stan, about the wildlife and their personal bush experiences. We would suggest to friends and family to go to Imbabala first for a truly wonderful experience.
