Pioneers Camp

Victoria Falls

Pioneers Camp is an intimate, beautifully appointed, tented camp situated inside the Zambezi National Park upstream from the Victoria Falls.  The camp's location is on a lovely quiet stretch of Zambezi River shoreline with a natural spring-line, Mpala Jena, running through the site. This spring-line attracts an abundance of wildlife throughout the year.

It's conveniently located close to Victoria Falls - for easy access - but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the busy town.

This area has a healthy, and increasing wildlife population within the Zambezi National Park and along the river itself. There are many other activities available such as fishing, canoeing, sunset cruises as well as guided walking along the Mpala Jena springline.

It is so close to Vic Falls you can easily go into town to enjoy some "˜adventure", a game of golf, high tea at the Vic Falls Hotel or anything equally decadent! In the park we offer game drives, walking, bird-watching, and of course, river activities too. The camp is open all year round.

The Camp
Phase one includes six luxury tents, well-appointed and nestled under shady trees each bragging breathtaking views of the river. There is a central dining and lounge area to mingle and relax in. The camp is eco-friendly, with modern solar lighting, solar geysers for showers, flushing toilets and efficient and correct waste disposal. Meals are prepared from a selection of fresh produce, and are served either al fresco, or in our shady dining tent overlooking the river.
Your comfort and enjoyment is our prime concern and our dedicated team will look after your every whim.

All activities are run with our professionally trained guides. From this intimate camp you can enjoy both night and day-time game drives, boat cruises (sunset or morning), canoeing, fishing, and we can also arrange a walking safari  for you.
Pioneers is available either on a fully inclusive basis including activities and drinks, or full board with activities and drinks extra - which is good for people in their own vehicles.

When to go
The camp is open all year round, and each season has different attractions. The summer months (October - April) offer migratory birds, "baby" animals, excellent fishing, and great photography with the bush greening up and set off by incredible skies. The winter months are traditionally better for game viewing as it is drier and cooler, with better visibility through the bush.

I stayed at this beautiful camp last September. My stay exceeded my expectations. All activities included (sundowner on the river, canoeing, game drives) makes the quality/price ratio very favourable for the guests. Not to forget the wildlife not far from your tent. We will be back ! Ron – thank YOU for such a lovely report back… hope you can visit again soon. Debbie Addison - Director, Wild Frontiers/Pioneers Camp
