THE PALM RIVER HOTEL:  73 Deluxe and Suite Rooms on the Zambezi River, upstream of Victoria Falls.

Our vision for the Palm River Hotel was simultaneously simple and complex: a unique hotel offering unparalleled luxury without compromising a sense of home comfort; vast, unimpeded views which maintained shelter and privacy; the convenience of a central location preserved within a tranquil bubble of peace and quiet. And with its opening that vision becomes reality.

The hotel’s location could not be more idyllic, situated as it is along the banks of the iconic Zambezi River, among towering indigenous trees and only 4 kilometres from Africa’s Natural World Wonder, Victoria Falls – so close, in fact, that on a clear, quiet day you can hear the thunder and see the spray of the mighty waterfall from your room.

The Palm River Hotel has been inspired by the architectural style of the Queenslander, distinct in its savvy use of timber and corrugated iron and its consideration of climatic conditions. Our highly skilled and professional team of  Zimbabwean architects and interior designers have taken these principles and modified them to create a hotel that is at once aesthetic and functional, modern and timeless, cosmopolitan and perfectly suited to the local environment.

The innovative blend of traditional East-Coast Australian design and the unique landscape of the upper Zambezi River has resulted in a brand new and distinctive landmark for Victoria Falls.

RA-IKANE CRUISE BOATS ON THE ZAMBEZI RIVER:   From the jetties in front of the Palm River Hotel, a fleet of cruising boats The Ra-Ikane I, II and III, offer a variety of Zambezi River cruises, including breakfast, lunch and sunset, as well as private charters. These boats represent the grace of a bygone era and honour the rich history of Victoria Falls and its explorers, adventurers and heroes.

Fashioned after David Livingstone’s exploration boat, the Ma-Robert, the Ra-Ikane boats are named after the instrumental guide, Lazarus Ra-Ikane, who accompanied and assisted Livingstone in his monumental discovery of the natural wonder, Victoria Falls. The monohull design of the Ra-Ikane boats enables them to navigate further up the Zambezi River and bring guests closer to the banks in the shallow water and, therefore, closer to all the action! With lots of space on the flat deck and a maximum of 16 passengers, there is plenty of room to make yourself comfortable.

The well-appointed Ra-Ikane fleet was built to ensure that each guest is able to experience the wild beauty of the Zambezi River with ease and style. Our boats take a circular route around the islands to provide guests with a panoramic view of the upper and lower Zambezi River and the wildlife and birdlife it offers. Each Ra-Ikane boat has its own crew, made up of a friendly and knowledgeable captain, guide and waiter to ensure that you can sit back and enjoy the ride.

Transfers, drinks, snacks & river usage fees are included in the rates (clients resident at any hotel can book the Ra-Ikane) .
