The McMaster Ferry offers a basic, reliable, 'on demand', vehicle and passenger ferry service across Lake Kariba between Charara Harbour in Kariba Town and the Spurwing/Fothergill shore of the Matusadona National Park. This part of the Park is about a 2 hour drive on bush roads to or from Tashinga Camp which lies on the western side of the Park.
The crossing takes approximately 3 - 3.5 hours one way, weather depending.
This is primarily a vehicle ferry service with basic ablution facilities and a top deck for passenger seating while making the crossing. Passengers need to provide their own chairs, food and beverages and have full access to the cars during the trip.
All vehicles need to fully insured by the owners. Only the vessel and passengers are covered by McMasters.
The price charged is for the whole ferry, but can be split among the passengers if they are willing to share. Charges exclude National Park Lake Usage fees and VAT.
