African Bush Camps is a private, owner-run African-based safari company offering you an authentic safari experience in a variety of exclusive safari camps all based within iconic areas of untamed African wilderness.

In Mana Pools National Park, African Bush Camps offer visitors a riverside experience with Zambezi Expeditions and/or an inland safari experience on a private concession at Kanga Camp.

The main area of Kanga Camp is a 12-bedded tented camp delicately built on decking around the edge of the Kanga Pan. Two of the luxury tents are are Honeymoon suites or Family Units, with private dining and seating areas.  A relaxing lounge area raised on decking under the shade of large trees overlooks the splash pool and pan, creating a perfect setting for the “Armchair Safari” experience, for which this camp has become well-known.

There is the choice of taking game drives in open-topped four-wheel drive vehicles or walking with professional guides. The opportunity to leave one's vehicle and track game on foot is an experience rare in the national parks of Africa and in Mana Pools in particular this provides the visitor with the chance to track game in safety with an experienced professional guide. Other activities include night drives and canoeing which is organised on request.

"Kanga under the Stars" is an outdoor wilderness sleeping experience for the more adventurous with a bedroom constructed in a purpose-built raised sleeping platform in a nearby riverbed.

Game abounds on the flood plains and in the Mopane woodlands of Mana Pools. Kanga Pan particularly attracts great game in big concentrations as it is the only water found in the floodplain above the river. The predators, including lion, wild dog and leopard are often sighted and large concentrations of buffalo can be found in the Mopane woodland and open plains studded with Ilala Palms. Kudu, zebra, impala and waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains. Elephant take advantage of the plentiful albida trees (Faidherbia albida - more commonly known as the Ana Tree or Winter Thorn) in the area. Bird watching is also a great attraction.

You can now watch a new "virtual safari experience" by clicking and dragging your computer mouse across 360-degree video footage promoting African Bush Camps properties in Southern Africa.  Watch the 360 video HERE.

African Bush Camps also has properties in Matusadona National Park (Bumi Hills Safari Lodge) and Hwange National Park and in Botswana and Zambia.  It operates in association with its sister company, Safari Logistics, a transfer and travel logistics service based in Victoria Falls.

The camp is beautifully situated overlooking a pan. They made my birthday weekend special and unforgettable. The rooms are superb, the outdoor shower was amazing. I showered whilst watching elephants shower at the pan:-). The services, food, care - everything was perfect. The team are friendly and King, our guide, was excellent. Thank you everyone.

This camp offers a truly wild experience, especially in the driest and hottest months of the year - September/October, when Kanga Pan is the only source of water for miles around. A constant panorama of animals, including the big cats and the wild dogs can be seen literally from your armchair on the wooden deck overlooking the pan. The spacious en-suite tents are cleverly designed to blend into the surrounding bush, and combine total comfort with a very authentic natural decor. The open-air dining experience under magnificent, shady trees on the deck overlooking the pan, with the elephants right below you is unforgettable. We loved it and can highly recommend Kanga for bush-lovers who enjoy a bit of rustic luxury.
