AWARE is a non profit conservation organisation run by veterinarians. Our mission is to pro-actively further the conservation and welfare of wildlife and wildlife habitats, with particular reference to conservation veterinary medicine, and to raise AWAREness of veterinary and ecological threats to wildlife species and habitats.

Some of our activities include: providing free treatment and rehabilitation to sick or injured ownerless wild animals; performing free sterilisation and vaccination campaigns for rural domestic animals adjoining wildlife areas; dehorning and monitoring rhino in National Parks; training National Parks anti-poaching rangers; disease surveillance research in wildlife; conservation education talks for schoolchildren; and training of staff and veterinary extension assistants.

We offer tourists a unique way to experience the "real" Zimbabwe and get up close and personal with the wildlife. Volunteer tourists are able to participate in wild animal immobilisations for relief of injury or critical research purposes. Costs charged to the visitors will provide much needed funding for this essential work.
