At Jecha Point Fishing Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River, downstream from the border town of Chirundu, we offer exclusive, wild, yet accessible accommodation which is clean and comfortable and set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings.

The lodge can comfortably accommodate up to 22 guests in thatched chalets all with en-suite bathroom facilities and fans.  Four chalets sleep two guests each. the family chalet sleeps up to 6 and the Fisherman's Cottage sleeps up to 8 in total.  Laundry is done on a daily basis.  Fully catered and semi-self catered options are available.

Next door is a delightful riverside camping site for self-drivers or overlanders, set on green lawns under shady trees, with a braai (barbeque) area and ablution facilities.

Jecha Point specializes in offering professional guiding to fishing enthusiasts focused on the mighty tiger fish and other exciting species.

We also offer photographic excursions (day trips),  birding safaris, game walks, game viewing from an elevated platform and photographic boat cruises.

Our facilities are ideal as a quaint venue for small conferences and weddings and we offer personalised wedding planning and catering.

Guests visiting Jecha can expect to see wild elephants frequenting the camp on a daily basis, especially when the Acacia and Torchwood trees are in fruit.   The lodge is far enough away from Chirundu to have plenty of other game animals visiting the camp surrounds during the day and at night.  These can all be viewed safely from our elevated "tree-house" platform behind the lodge.

I was woken by these tremendous loud roars, I must admit I was "poep"-scared... it sounded like they were right behind the toilets. I woke Dean, and we were busy waking the girls to get in the car. The guards came and convinced us to calm down, we will be ok. It was an brilliant awesome experience. We have never been that close to lions in the dark without any fences! We are thrilled you and your family experienced Jecha at its wildest and that your overseas friends also got an authentic African experience!

Our cabin faced the gorgeous Zambezi and was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We even got some lovely elephant and hippo visitors munching on the grass outside during the night. The staff were wonderful and our sunset boat ride on the river with James was a real highlight. The only negative is that we only stayed one night! Would love to return.

We were looking for a place to stay over en route to Mana Pools and were advised to go to Jecha Point. We were booked for 2 nights and had some hippo and elephants providing us with night-time entertainment. Jecha's atmosphere, infrastructure and pleasant people made that we returned for a third night after Mana. Mana was great by Jecha was better! We enjoyed nightly serenades from lion and hyena and when we eventually left, a herd of elephants and some wild dogs saw us out.

We originally booked for 2 nights but stayed for 3 as we were having such a good time. We spent our day fishing and caught some nice tiger fish, which was a highlight of the kids' holiday. The service was excellent. The accommodation nice and clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We even had our own cook to cook our meals - ah heaven!

“Good people and great experiences”. These guys are sportsmen as in fishermen but me not so much: I wanted to go camping and wildlife viewing in Mana Pools! They had the time so they arranged a 2 day trip into the bush complete with rain storm camping, cooking, beer, good tales, swimming and sight-seeing that included a pride of lions and many other species. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot too! These guys are also great human beings and conservationists in the truest sense of the word and believe me, they need all the conservationists they can find in Africa. They tirelessly remove illegal snares, are advocates of game management and defenders of wildlife from poaching and general mistreatment. If you want a great fishing trip you've come to the right place. If you want to support a business that supports and defends what wild remains in Africa, well, you've really come to the right place. Room Tip: Any of the cabins are great!

We thoroughly recommend Jecha for that special stay on the Zambezi River. Easy access from Harare, wonderful accommodation, superb hospitality and meals (and if you take your own food, the chefs prepare and serve everything, a real treat for Moms), great fishing (with boats available if you do not have your own) and spectacular birds, camp elephants and lions, all in all a great weekend or mid week break. Also a very good way of hosting international guests for a wilderness experience in a fuss free affordable way.

We loved this place! Just back from 3 nights at Jecha at the end of our trip to Zimbabwe. It is great-even if you don't fish. We went on boat trips speeding up the river to see elephants and carmine bee-eaters and lots of hippos. The cooks made delicious food - I now need to diet, though...Nick and Iona are doing a great job and I'd recommend more foreign travellers to try it out- it's easier to get to than Mana Pools, for one thing, or it might be a good stop on the way. We went as guests of some Zimbabwe friends who sorted it all out so I feel a slight fraud doing a review but I do want more people to know about this lovely place- I will remember the hippo munching the lawn outside the bathroom for ages. Room Tip: we had a 2 room family lodge which was great. All the rooms are facing the river so they are all good.
