Wild Zambezi congratulates Obert Mupara (pictured) on his appointment as the new GM at Marineland Harbour, following the sad loss of owner Bob Collett, after a long struggle with cancer.

Says Obert:  "I have taken on some very big boots to fill in, but I am confident with your usual support, we will sail through and win!"

In his first newsletter for Marineland since taking on the role, Obert stresses that, thanks to the many improvements that Bob made since his return from Australia a few years ago, the harbour has been left running very smoothly, and is looking neat and smart and generally cleaned-up.

"Our water measurements at Marineland show that the lake level has over the past two weeks started to drop and this will allow us to start working on refurbishing the outer walls for more protection against both wind and waves. As the level drops over the coming months, we will try our best to raise the wall height above previous levels, for future protection and stability of the harbour.

Our fuel supplies have been consistent and our suppliers, RAM, have always prioritised us ensuring that we do not run out of product. We have enough supplies for the foreseeable future. Remember, Marineland fuel jetty is still the only guaranteed secondary filtered fuel supply available in Kariba.

We have added two pontoon-type child-friendly boats to our fishing boat fleet of Sabres and Sportsters.  The new boats are fuel savers with a braai (barbeque) on the side, so you can roast some freshly-caught bream! These pontoons can also be hired as extra tenders on houseboats.

Our drinks supply at Marineland has vastly improved since we were appointed a Delta Distributing Agent in Kariba. We also are well stocked with imported beers and wines but do encourage you to book these well in advance to avoid disappointment. The shop stocks in general have improved.

We are also delighted to announce that we are busy refurbishing our website so that we can bring you the convenience of booking houseboats, ordering drinks and even paying online for all our services.

We have also created a new Facebook page.  Please like Marineland Harbour Kariba.  Our twitter handle is Marineland Harbour. Our YouTube channel under construction is also coming up soon as Marineland Harbour. We will soon be registered as Marineland Harbour on Instagram too. Our WhatsApp number is +263 783 666970. This is all being put in place to improve our communication with you our customer. Please feel free to communicate in any form you prefer. This and all future newsletters may be accessed through these media platforms too. Information about the levels of Lake Kariba will also be available from our website weekly.

If you have any suggestions for further improvements to enhance your enjoyment and leisure time at or through Marineland, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Marineland staff. It is in the interest of all of us to make your Kariba experience pleasurable."
