An ordinary Visa to enter Zimbabwe is required by several nationalities: please read the full details listed below.

There are 3 categories  - see the tables below):

CATEGORY A:  Countries whose nationals do not require a Visa. No action required, you will be granted easy entry at any border post.

CATEGORY B: Countries whose nationals are granted a Zimbabwe visa at port of entry on payment of requisite visa fees. These visas are easiest obtained on your arrival at the Airport or border post. If you get them done via an agency in your home country they will often cost you quite a bit more and be a lot more hassle.

Category B Visa Costs:  Single Entry US$ 30; Double Entry US$ 45; Multiple Entry US$ 55
NOTE:  Exceptions:-
Britain (UK) and Ireland: Single Entry US$ 55; Double Entry US$ 70
Canada: Single Entry US$ 75 - Canadian Passport holders can ONLY get a Single entry Zimbabwe Visa at the port of Entry. Cost is US$75

CATEGORY C: Countries whose nationals are required to apply for and obtain a Zimbabwe visa prior to travelling. You can do this online at www.evisa.gov.zw  or apply through an agency or the Zimbabwe High Commission in your home country

Category C Visa Costs:  Single Entry US$65 to US$100
NOTE:  Category C nationals can only get a single entry Zimbabwe visa.

All Categories need:-

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.
  • Return ticket to your country (or enough money to buy one)
  • Sufficient funds to cover your stay in Zimbabwe.
  • Enough blank pages in your passport to fit the required entry visa.

If you have purchased a single entry visa upon arrival and then decide to leave Zimbabwe, even for a few hours, you will need to buy another visa to re-enter Zimbabwe. In this instance you should buy a double entry visa upon arrival, it works out cheaper.

NB: Multiple Entry Visas cannot be obtained at the port of entry into Zimbabwe.  You may enter Zimbabwe on a single entry visa and then obtain a Multiple Entry Visa from the town office, but this may take up to 7 working days to be issued.

Alternatively a multiple entry visa can be obtained from the Zimbabwe Embassy in your country prior to departure for Zimbabwe.

Children - Zimbabwe charges FULL VISA fees for any individual who is required to have a VISA despite their age. This includes infants and children who were previously being exempted from this.

EXTRA NOTES:

British Passport Holders

You need a Zimbabwe visa to visit Zimbabwe. This can be obtained from the Zimbabwe Embassy in London or on arrival in Zimbabwe.  To be honest it is easier and in most cases cheaper just to get one at the port of entry.

The current charge for a single entry Zimbabwe visa issued on arrival is US$55 and US$70 for a Double Entry Zimbabwe visa, although this could change at any stage. If you have not obtained a Zimbabwe visa before travelling, you should bring enough cash with you to pay for your visa on arrival (no credit/debit cards or cheques).

Visitors are currently being given entry permission for anything up to 90 days but you are strongly advised to check that the number of days given at the port of entry covers your intended period of stay, although you can apply to have this period renewed and extended if required.

USA Passport Holders

You need a Zimbabwe visa to visit Zimbabwe; this can be obtained from the Zimbabwe Embassy in the United States or on arrival in Zimbabwe.  To be honest it is easier and in most cases cheaper just to get one at the port of entry.

The current charge for a single entry Zimbabwe visa issued on arrival is US$ 30 and US$ 45 for a Double Entry Zimbabwe visa, although this could change at any stage. If you have not obtained a Zimbabwe visa before travelling, you should bring enough cash with you to pay for your visa on arrival (no credit/debit cards or cheques).

TRAVELLING WITHIN THE REGION: Note that as from 2023, visitors from many countries can now enter Zambia and Botswana VISA-FREE. Please check the visa requirements for those countries for more info.

KAZA UNI-VISA:   Visitors who still require visas for entry to Zambia or Botswana, and wish to travel there from Zimbabwe, can obtain a KAZA UNI-VISA.

This very useful visa allows visitors to stay in either Zimbabwe or Zambia (or both) for up to 30 days for a single payment of US$50.   This saves time and money and enables much easier travel between the two countries (e.g. at Victoria Falls/Livingstone).

The KAZA Uni-visa is also valid for a DAY TRIP ONLY to Botswana from Victoria Falls through the Kazangula border.  Note that the visa expires or becomes invalid once a traveller spends a night outside Zimbabwe or Zambia.  Those wishing to stay a night or more in Botswana should buy a Double Entry Visa for that country which will allow them duel entries from any border within a period of 6 months.

The KAZA Uni-visa is available on request at Victoria Falls, Harare, Livingstone, Lusaka ports of entry in Zimbabwe and Zambia and Kazungula border post.  Unfortunately it is not yet available (or accepted) at either Chirundu or Kariba border posts.

UK CITIZEN STAYING AT VICTORIA FALLS, ZIM SIDE ( 5 DAYS ) WANT TO VISIT ZAMBIA FOR A DAY WHAT VISAS ARE REQUIRED ?

CB16 January 2020
Hi CB. Ask immigration for a KAZA Uni-Visa if you are entering Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls (or Harare) airports. It costs US$50 and allows you entry into both Zimbabwe and Zambia as frequently as you like for up to 30 days. If by any chance the KAZA uni-visa is not available, ask for a double-entry visa for Zimbabwe (US$70), and then when you go into Zambia, ask for the special Day Tripper Visa which costs US$20 when crossing at Victoria Falls. Hope this helps. Have a great trip! WILD ZAMBEZI

How long is a single entry visa to Zimbabwe valid for if one has a British passport. Is the length of stay determined by the immigration officer even if your visit is for 10 days.

Sue25 September 2019
Hi Sue. When you enter Zimbabwe as a visitor with a British passport, your immigration stamp is valid for one month from date of entry. If you wish to extend this, you need to visit the Immigration Department in Harare and request an extension. This can only be done a limited number of times. WILD ZAMBEZI

Hi, I am an Indian and we 5 family members are visiting Victoria Falls on 21st to 23rd August 2019. How much we have to pay at VFA airport for obtaining visa on arrival?

K K ROY20 July 2019
Thank you for contacting Wild Zambezi regarding a visa at Victoria Falls. You should be required to pay US$30 per person for a single entry. You can pay this with US$cash or an international card on arrival at the Victoria Falls airport. If you are intending to visit both Zimbabwe and Zambia during your stay at Victoria Falls, ask about the possibility of obtaining a KAZA Uni-Visa, which allows you entry to both countries for a single payment of US$50 per person. This will save you paying the full visa amount for both countries. Have a wonderful stay! WILD ZAMBEZI

I am a Canadian and I was charged US$75 to enter Zimbabwe today for a 2 day visit. I was told by airport authorities that this was because Canada charges Zimbabwe residents this amount of $ to enter Canada. This statement however is untrue. Canada charges Zimbabwe residents only US$55 to get a visa to enter Canada. Please verify and revise your information that is given to visitors to your country.

Dear Ruvani. Zimbabwe's visa costs are set by the government and unfortunately we ourselves are unable to influence their decisions other than by passing on your comments to the Department of Immigration. This we will do. Thank you for your observations and feedback. WILD ZAMBEZI

Some of the countries appear on two lists (Iran, Slovenia), and it looks like there are 40 countries who have moved to Category B.

Faniso7 March 2016
Hi Faniso Thanks for this. We have sent your comment to the evisa people (Department of Immigration) and informed them of these confusions. We hope they will respond or issue and amended list. Wild Zambezi
