Mhara River bush Camp was founded by Zimbabweans who collectively have over 150 years of time in the Zambezi Valley. The camp is a low footprint luxury tented camp, providing a truly ‘out of Africa' type experience.
Our business is to offer our clients a prelude to the great theatre that is the Zambezi Valley, an experience of wildest uncommercialised Africa, a truly natural and pristine private area all on its own, tucked away, and touched for centuries only by its own natural inhabitants. Out here the client gets an insight into the very core of life in the natural world.
Our 6 luxury tents with en-suite bathrooms overlook the Chitake River, in the southern section of Mana Pools National Park.
Our central area or deck also overlooks the Chitake River, with a large comfortable living and dining space and a second storey for quiet usage by guests in many forms, whether it be quietly reading, a magnificent spot for yoga, or quietly watching birds in the vegetation in the camp or animals in the riverbed.
Partake in guided walks along the dried Chitake or Mhara Rivers, or perhaps up the Baobab Ridge and along the elephant paths that have existed for centuries. Take a Game Drive in the concession or sit quietly in the hide or perhaps at one of the waterholes, the possibilities are plenty. We offer night drives, and sundowner drinks in the incredible river beds amongst the wilds of the area
Wonderful birding opportunities exist here, with a wide variety of birdlife including some rare migratory birds such as the African Pitta, the African Broadbill and many others.
All our rates are fully inclusive of meals activities and local beverages. Fully guided walks and game drives are included and other activities such as Art Safaris and yoga classes can be organised at an extra Fee.
Access to Mhara River Bush Camp is by road (4x4 vehicles recommended) or via air charter from Harare or Kariba, to a nearby airstrip.
