As an aid to travellers planning a visit to Zimbabwe, Wild Zambezi has compiled the following information which we hope will be of assistance (click to open each item, or scroll down below):-

1.  COVID-19 TOURISM GUIDELINES for all visitors to Zimbabwe.

2.  TRAVELLERS' IMMIGRATION & SURVEILLANCE FORMS to be completed by ALL passengers arriving in Zimbabwe by air (except returning residents).

1.  COVID-19 TOURISM GUIDELINES

These have been compiled from information obtained from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority in conjunction with Zimbabwe's Ministry of Health and in line with the international requirements of the WHO (World Health Organisation).

Note that these COVID-19 Tourism Guidelines may be subject to change as circumstances develop.  Wild Zambezi will endeavour to provide up to date information when available.

Zimbabwe’s international airports (Harare, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls) are open for travellers subject to the following conditions:-

  • All passengers are required to complete and submit an IMMIGRATION FORM on arrival (see copy of form below). It is also advisable to complete a TRAVELLER SURVEILLANCE FORM (copy attached below) in advance of arrival, in case it is required.
  • STOP PRESS:  Fully vaccinated travellers and returning residents no longer need to present a negative PCR test to enter Zimbabwe.  Travellers or returning residents above the age of 12, who are NOT fully vaccinated, are required to present a valid negative PCR test taken not more than 48 hours before departure.
  • Children below the age of 12 do not need a negative COVID-19 PCR test (even if not vaccinated)
  • There is NO QUARANTINE for passengers arriving at international airports (as long as they are fully vaccinated, or, if not, have a valid negative PCR certificate (see STOP PRESS above) and show no symptoms).
  • At all international airports, a Port Health or Airport official will take passengers’ temperatures. Anyone recording a normal temperature (lower than 38°C) will be free to go.
  • Anyone recording a temperature equal to or higher than 38°C ( or who shows symptoms) will be required to have a PCR COVID-19 test at their own cost, regardless of the negative certificate.
  • Travellers who test positive must then go into a local designated isolation centre for 10 days if they have no symptoms, or 13 days if they are symptomatic. Isolation is at the traveller’s expense.
  • After isolation, travellers will need to be retested before they are provided with release documents and permitted to travel home or on to their next destination.
  • Travellers must adhere to World Health Organization COVID-19 standard practices at all times. This is includes maintaining social distancing, wearing a mask in public (if necessary) and practising personal hygiene.
  • All travellers are expected to follow WHO COVID-19 guidelines at hospitality and recreational facilities (social distancing, wearing a mask (if necessary) and hand sanitizing etc).
  • Visitors are allowed to travel countrywide in Zimbabwe without restriction.  It is advisable to carry a copy of your travel booking as confirmation of transit.
  • A dedicated national toll-free ‘2023’ helpline and call centre is available for information about COVID-19 to travellers.
  • A negative COVID-19 PCR test is no longer a requirement for departure from any Zimbabwean international airport or land border, UNLESS the onward destination or airline requires it. Visitors who require to be tested before departure can be tested and obtain COVID-19 certificates from approved laboratories in Zimbabwe if this is a requirement of their destination country.

The following restrictions are in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19:-

  • Social distancing, and hands sanitizing is advisable at all times when in public places.
  • Wearing of masks in public places is only mandatory if you are not vaccinated.
  • Restaurants are open for sit-in customers subject to the production of proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and adherance to COVID protocols.
  • Licensed bars, and nightclubs are open for clients who have proof of full vaccination only, and with COVID protocols observed.
  • Cinemas, theatres and art galleries are open to  clients on proof of full vaccination.
  • Sporting activities are allowed subject to adherance to COVID protocols and on proof of full vaccination.
  • Gyms, spas and fitness centres are open to clients on proof of full vaccination.
  • Where proof of full vaccination is required as a condition of entry, if a client can present a valid, negative PCR or Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test undertaken within 48 hours of entry, this will be acceptable in place of proof of vaccination, at the discretion of the owner/proprietor.

Zimbabwe's land borders are open for visitors.  Visitors entering through the country's land borders must have proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or should have proof of a negative PCR test issued within 48 hours of departure for Zimbabwe.

Children below the age of 12 do not need to hold a negative PCR certificate (even if not vaccinated). Visitors in transit for departure the same day out of Victoria Falls International Airport are allowed across land borders near Victoria Falls without proof of vaccination.  However, they must provide a printed version of their departure flight on that day.

Please note that the Covid-19 information above is applicable as from 12 July 2022, and is subject to change depending on any new Statutory Instruments issued.
